Cornwall,
Ont – Sunday, July 8, 2012 – Martin Bélanger – Another great night of racing at
Cornwall Motor Speedway as the Modifieds, Sportsman, Mini-Stock were in action
and the Semi-Pro had a special 25-lap event. The ladies had a chance to test
their abilities as they had a 10-lap affair at the end of Go Glass night.
Chris Raabe
took the lead in the 30-lap Jiffy Auto Services Modified feature race as Bobby
Herrington and Kyle Dingwall were behind him. Stephane Lafrance brought the
caution on lap 2. Raabe still on top as Dale Planck was strong using the high
lane and grabbed second over Herrington. Dingwall made a good move to take third
on lap 7. Laurent Ladouceur and Joel Doiron made their way to the top 5 with a
dozen laps in the books. Shane Pecore brought the second caution on lap 18 as he
slow in the backstretch. On the restart, Dingwall jumped to second as Raabe was
still the leader. Raabe built himself a comfortable lead and led the entire
feature to win his second feature in a row over Dingwall and Planck completed
the podium.
Jake Deer
took the lead in the 25-lap Evans Bus Lines Semi-Pro special race, Robert
Delormier and Benoit Dubois, were close behind him. Delormier used the top side
to grab the first spot on lap 6. The caution came out 2 laps later. Delormier
led 4 more laps when the yellow lights came back. Delormier is still in front as
he had new dancing partners in Joe Woods and Steve Billings in second and third
with 10 laps to go, the yellow was out on the next lap. On the following
restart, Delormier spun out and yellow was out as Billings was the new leader
with Derek Cryderman and Dubois back in third. Cryderman got a great jump and
took the top spot with Dubois in second. Dubois was able to take first with five
laps to do. Cryderman spun out in turn and the yellow was out with 1 lap to go.
Dubois led the last lap dash to win his second feature of the season over
Billings and Guy Regimbald.
A fine field
of 23 cars took the initial green in the 20-lap Storm Realty Tracy Wheeler
Sportsman feature. Jenna David was the early leader over Thomas Cook and Mitch
Primeau. John Mills stopped in the backstretch and caution was out on lap 4. On
the restart, Chris Herbison powered his way to the lead from his fourth starting
spot but David was strong on the bottom and back to the front on lap 9. Herbison
got back in front two laps later as Dan Jalbert was now running third. The race
slowed down on that same lap. Herbison in front as Brian Comeau jumped to third
on the restart. Herbison pulled away from the rest of the field as Corey Winters
brought the field together with 3 laps to go. Herbison led the final laps to win
his second feature of the season over Dan Jalbert and Louie Jackson Jr.,
completed the podium.
In the
12-lap Crazy Dave`s DJ Services Mini-Stock feature, Michael Blais was able to
resist to a few restart in the first portion of the feature to keep the lead
over Martin Bernard and newcomer Nolan Swamp who made his way through the field.

Bernard and Swamp.
